The following is a statement provided by Ann Taddeo, candidate for Ward 2 councilmember, to Building a Better Brighton.
Statement from the Candidate
I moved to Brighton in 1999. A few years later I met my husband and we married
in 2006. Together, we have three adult children and a few fur babies. I attended
Metropolitan State College in Denver for 2 years and was studying social work as
a major. I later realized that that social work was not the direct career path I
wanted. After starting a family, I decided to go back to school to obtain my real
estate license. In 1994 I began my new career as a way to serve and help others.
In 2000, I started my own company, American Dream Realty, LLC.
In my spare time I enjoy spending time with family and friends and the “fur
babies”. When time allows, 2 of my favorite pastimes are “being in the wind”
with my husband and friends riding motorcycles, or going to estate sales. As I
mentioned, I love to help others and I have been a part of many community and
fundraising events throughout the years here.
I am a long-time resident, with a proven track record of service to the
community and my fellow residents. I am running for re-election so that I might
continue to work for not only the residents of Ward 2, but to serve with an
upbeat and positive “can-do” approach towards helping make Brighton the best
possible community for all of us.
My leadership style is collaborative, straight-forward, and no nonsense. I take
pride in my work ethic, honesty, and integrity. I am always willing to truly listen,
and then employ critical thinking skills. And, I always lead by example. If I see a
need, I step up and get to work. I don’t ask others to do something I am not
willing to do myself. I believe that collaborating and respecting others always
results in the best outcomes.
Top 3 Most Important Issues facing the city right now.
Water: We need to make sure there is plenty of great water for our residents. Not only that, but we need to plan for the future as well. We know that the city is going to grow. It is imperative that we make sure that we facilitate controlled and healthy growth so that we can take care of the future residents as well.
Affordable Housing and Homelessness: As we know, both are becoming a larger problem in today’s society. I certainly don’t have the perfect answers to either or both, but I do know that working together with Council and The City, we can come up with solutions to benefit more residents.
Downtown Revitalization: We need to make revitalizing our historic downtown corridor a priority and ensure that it is done with intention and forethought towards developing it in a way that is going to not only improve a blighted area, but will do so in a way that adds value and quality of life for residents, while at the same time creating a sustainable revenue source for the city. This should be an area focused on sales tax generating industry that brings additional amenities that add to the appeal of our downtown corridor and community overall.
Thank you for your time, and even though I will be the only Ward 2 representative on the ballot, I do hope that you will fill in the spot next to my name to secure your vote for me to represent the City of Brighton for 4 more years.
And, as always please reach out to me for help if you have any questions or concerns. It’s why I serve on council.
Thank you.
